Why we love it
Panforte is a traditional Tuscan cake from Siena, initially the Tuscan response to the "northern" panettone, now made and eaten all year round. The name Panforte, strong bread in Italian, derives from the strong, spicy flavour that characterises the cake.
This authentic panforte, made from an historic, artisan Florentine bakery, "forno", following the original recipe, is 100% natural and uses only the best and freshest ingredients containing more than 30% of almonds, more than any other, together with candied oranges and lemons: panforte doesn't get any tastier. Our panforte does not contain palm oil or preservatives.
Often paired with a glass of Vin Santo after a meal, or enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea, Panforte is a delicious and filling cake that can be enjoyed any time of the day. The difference between artisan and industrial panforte is in the quality and quantity of the ingredients.
Our panforte slices are hand cut, so the weight can slightly vary.
The artisan who made it
Founded in 2003 by Andrea, ItalyAbroad.com emerged from a passionate desire to bridge the gap between discerning consumers and the true essence of Italian food and wine. Upon arriving in the UK, Andrea, hailing from a family steeped in Italian winemaking traditions, recognized a stark contrast between the commercially available "Italian" products and the authentic, high-quality fare he cherished back home.
Driven by a commitment to quality and authenticity, Italyabroad.com embarked on a mission to unearth hidden gems from small, dedicated Italian wineries and artisanal producers. We meticulously curate our selection, ensuring that every product embodies the rich heritage and exceptional craftsmanship that define Italian excellence.
We partner exclusively with small, family-run businesses who uphold traditional methods and prioritize quality over mass production and our products are crafted using the finest, natural ingredients, free from palm oil, preservatives, and artificial additives. At Italyabroad.com we categorically reject industrially produced items and "Italian-sounding" imitations, focusing solely on genuine Italian delicacies.
Since 2003, Italyabroad.com has been the recipient of several awards for the high quality of products we import.
