A great red wine made with Nebbiolo grapes grown on the slopes of the Dolomites in the Valtellina area with only a small percentage, 10%, of merlot to add fruit and soften the tannins and what a difference it makes.
The grapes are manually harvested and then aged in small French barrels, second passage, already used, as to preserve the characteristics of the grapes and avoid the “wood” flavours to overtake them, to become too oaky. Once the wine has completed the ageing process, it is left in the bottle for an additional 18 months before being released.
The result is a red wine with a fruity nose, elegant and with a lively acidity, very smooth on the palate with soft tannins, where the Merlot is well evident, still retaining the structure of the Nebbiolo.
A very versatile red wine, it can pair a pasta dish as well as game or even a pizza
The artisan who made it
Rivetti & Lauro is a dream come true. The Valtellina is a mountainous area with vineyards planted on terraces where everything is done manually, including harvesting, and in these mountains Rivetti & Lauro, two friends, decided to follow their dream and passion and making wine. The Nebbiolo is their main grape, Nebbiolo is a great grape that gives it best on these extreme climates, vinified in red and white, but are slowly introducing new grapes to be blended with the Nebbiolo to produce even more outstanding wines.
