The 2007 vintage was a great vintage for Valpolicella area and the Amarone della Valpolicella wine and this was amongst the top Amarone of the year according to Decanter and many other wine magazines and critics and certainly us, it was one of the only 4 Amarone della Valpolicella wines to be awarded 5 stars, all from small independent wineries, beating all big names.

This Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2007 is a classic and modern Amarone at the same time. Classic because it does not belong to the category of the Amarones "made to be drunk as soon as they are bottled" but at the same time, it has a modern cut, with a fantastic acidity that gives elegance and at the same time longevity to the wine due the grapes used coming from a single vineyard located at about 600 mas, right in the middle of the Valpolicella “classico” area.

This Amarone della Valpolicella 2007 Classico is a great wine with depth and structure, this wine shows an amazingly complex nose with dried fruit and spices, smooth on the palate, elegant, perfectly balanced fruit and pairs beautifully with game, braised meat and aged cheeses, as well as being a meditation wine, a wine to be enjoyed on its own, a wine to be sipped, it can be drunk now or put in the cellar for a few more years. This wine needs to be decanted for at least four or five hours before being drunk.

Over the generations, the Gamba winery has been passed down from father to son and it is now run by the three brothers Giovanni, Giuseppe and Martino helped by their own sons and daughters. Located right in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area and spanning six acres, they grow the classic Valpolicella grapes, from Corvina to Rondinella with which then they make the classic Valpolicella wines, from valpolicella to amarone, from valpolicella ripasso to a recioto della valpolicella.
