Why we love it
This Lagrein riserva is a great red wine, a wine that has been aged for 12 months in barrique to add complexity and longevity to the wine, and structure.
This Lagrein riserva has a very complex nose with black fruit, a nose that at each swirl reveal a new aroma, from violet to chocolate and spice due to the wood ageing, a wine that will need to be enjoyed slowly, sip by sip.
On the palate this Lagrein riservea is full, big, important, lively with a never ending finish of black cherry and finds it perfect food companion in stews, lamb, mature cheese or just as a meditation wine with some good dark chocolate. This wine needs to be opened before serving and possibly decanted for a couple of hours at least.
The artisan who made it
Located in Alto Adige, the norther area of the Trentino Alto Adige region, Tenuta Kornell is located amongst lush palm trees and ancient conifers, where the Mediterranean wind meets the dry winds coming from the north. The soils, rich in porphyry that quickly absorb heat during the day, creates the ideal weather conditions for growing vines.
Tenuta Kornell has been making wine for over 700 years and today like yesterday, Florian Brigl and his young team are united by a passion for viticulture, where people and nature work in harmony. Their philosophy is to produce unique, honest wines made with perfect grapes, native grapes, from Lagrein to Gewurztraminer.
