Why we love it
Lambrusco Giano "Black Label" represents the beginning of Franco and Mario’s journey into winemaking. Their legacy started with Giano, a wine that embodies passion and dedication.
Giano is a dry Lambrusco obtained from Salamino grapes, with a brilliant ruby red color with alluring purple reflections. Its aroma is intense, offering notes of ripe red fruits, particularly black cherry, complemented by a touch of spiciness. On the palate, Giano surprises with a robust structure that defies expectations for a Lambrusco. The wine is balanced, with a freshness that makes it approachable, persistent, and harmonious.
This versatile Lambrusco pairs beautifully with a variety of foods. It shines alongside charcuterie, especially garlic-infused salami or cured meats, and complements more complex dishes such as chicken broth, tortellini, cappelletti in broth, or risotto with sausage.
For the best experience, serve Lambrusco Giano at 14–15°C. Allow it to breathe for a few minutes before pouring, as serving it too cold may accentuate the tannins, impacting its smooth character.
The artisan who made it
We have known Franco and Mario for a few years now, we came across them in a blind tasting of Lambrusco and fell in love with theirs. We rung and arranged to see their farm, their vineyards, and it was like we have known each other for ever.
They introduced themselves as being farmers before being winemakers, they have the utmost care for their vineyards and orchards, they work tirelessly, they consider themselves part of the nature, their environment, so everything is done keeping that well in mind.
Their winery, Fondo Bozzole, is located in the in the Oltre Po Mantovano, in the only Lambrusco DOC appellation outside Emilia Romagna. With a very small production, the winery is run just by them, each wine is unique and special, each wine is a drinking experience.
