Why we love it
Lambrusco Giano "Black Label" was Franco and Mario first wine, their story started with Giano.
Giano is a dry lambrusco, from Salamino grapes, with a beautiful bright ruby red colour and purple reflections. On the nose is intense, with scents of red fruit, mainly black cherry and some spiciness. In the mouth, it is a surprising structure, unexpected for a lambrusco, still, perfectly balanced, with a freshness that make the wine very approachable, persistent and balanced.
This lambrusco is perfect with charcuterie in general, salami with garlic or any other cured meat with garlic especially, but also with more complex dish such as chicken broth or tortellini or cappelleti in broth or even a risotto with sausages.
We suggest to serve lambrusco Giano at 14 - 15 degrees and wait a few minutes before pouring it, don’t serve it chilled because the tannins will make the wine unpleasant.
The artisan who made it
We have known Franco and Mario for a few years now, we came across them in a blind tasting of Lambrusco and fell in love with theirs. We rung and arranged to see their farm, their vineyards, and it was like we have known each other for ever.
They introduced themselves as being farmers before being winemakers, they have the utmost care for their vineyards and orchards, they work tirelessly, they consider themselves part of the nature, their environment, so everything is done keeping that well in mind.
Their winery, Fondo Bozzole, is located in the in the Oltre Po Mantovano, in the only Lambrusco DOC appellation outside Emilia Romagna. With a very small production, the winery is run just by them, each wine is unique and special, each wine is a drinking experience.
