This is a superb classic method sparkling wine produced with Pinot Nero grape from a single vineyard located at circa 350m asl fermented on its lees for between 24/36 months depending on the vintage, a so called "blanc de noir", a white sparkling wine made with red grapes. Named "miniera", Italian for mine, due to the vineyard being located near a former mine this classic method sparkling wine brut is elegant with a delicate nose, dry, perfect as an aperitif or to accompany delicate flavoured dishes. An all meal wine.
The artisan who made it
Rigoloccio is a winery located in the heart of the Maremma, Tuscany, that takes its name from Rigoloccio, stream in Tuscan dialect, name given to the pyrite mine discovered in 1898 that was once where the winery is, providing plenty of minerals to the grapes.
Rigoloccio is a small winery with about 8 hectares of vineyards surrounded by olive and cork trees with a very low yield to ensure the best possible quality for the grapes and each vineyard, cru, and grape is fermented separately and only at the end they are blended. The vineyards, located between 40m and 100m asl, benefit of the sea breeze with very cold night essential when wanting to make great wines.
