Why we love it

This Marsala Vergine, produced in very limited quantity, is obtained from a blend of Grillo and Cataratto grapes and aged for at least 5 years in casks kept in an underground cellar that ensure perfect ageing conditions.

The Marsala Vergine not only is a meditation wine or used to pair mature cheeses, but can also pair rich and flavourful main courses, check our authentic Italian recipes section for ideas. Learn more about this Sicilian hidden gem, read Andrea’s post on Marsala

The artisan who made it

The Alagna family has been growing grapes and making wine for over 75 years, for this reason they were awarded the “Marchio Storico”, historical brand, from the Italian government.

The winery extend for about 50 hectares of land in different plots in the municipalities of Marsala, Mazara, Trapani and Salemi where the native grapes are cultivated. From Zibibbo to Nero d'avola, from Grillo to Catarratto and Inzolia, grapes that are used to produce the famous Marsala in all its styles, the lesser known Cremovo and still wines.

The Alagna family has been making wine respecting tradition and the environment, minimizing the environmental impact, and the cellar, obtained from ancient tuff quarries, is open to all wine lovers.
