Why we love it

Petit Verdot is not an easy wine to make, the grape is very tannic and very often used in blends, but when properly made it can produce outstanding red wines.

The name, Ottodecembre, 8th of December in Italian is the founder date of birth. This is a wine that he wanted so much so that he named it with its date of birth.

This is a great red wine, and we believe, a the turning point. This is the second vintage, the first one was a bit too tannic, this is the vintage where the Petit Verdot came together. We believe this wine is destined for great things. Made from 100% Petit Verdot and aged in French barrels, it has a very complex nose, with fruity and floral notes, spiced. On the palate is smooth, soft, with a beautiful acidity that give elegance to the wine. A great wine per for red meats, mature cheeses and good dark chocolate.

The artisan who made it

Rigoloccio is a winery located in the heart of the Maremma, Tuscany, that takes its name from Rigoloccio, stream in Tuscan dialect, name given to the pyrite mine discovered in 1898 that was once where the winery is, providing plenty of minerals to the grapes.

Rigoloccio is a small winery with about 8 hectares of vineyards surrounded by olive and cork trees with a very low yield to ensure the best possible quality for the grapes and each vineyard, cru, and grape is fermented separately and only at the end they are blended. The vineyards, located between 40m and 100m asl, benefit of the sea breeze with very cold night essential when wanting to make great wines.
