Pecorino is a white grape that in the last few years has seen a renaissance, initially forgotten and left to rot on the vines or used in blends, now in fashion and widely cultivated in Abruzzo and Marche and Latium. In Abruzzo, the Pecorino has almost replaced the Trebbiano d'Abruzzo as the region flagship white wine.
This is a single vineyard Pecorino, obtained from manually harvested grapes from the oldest vines located on the hills of the DOCG "Colli Teramani" area facing the Adriatic sea, this wine is a step above your average Pecorino. This white wine has a fruity, aromatic nose, whilst vibrant, it is elegant and delicate on the palate; lively, crispy and with a mineral finish. This Pecorino perfectly matches pasta dishes, white meat and medium matured cheeses
The artisan who made it
Fattoria Nicodemi is located in Notaresco, in the heart of the Colline Teramane DOCG zone. The vineyards, at about 300 metres in altitude, protected by the Gran Sasso mountain and only 10 kilometres from the sea, enjoy an exceptional microclimate. The winery follows organic practices, without chemical herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. Nicodemi is also the story of Alessandro and Elena, brother and sister, that took over in 2000 from their dad who followed the steps of their granddad. Nicodemi is the story of their family.
Fattoria Nicodemi philosophy is based on following the tradition using the most modern technologies. Their wines are proud voices of their unique terroir. They believe wine is made in the vineyards by nature, their role is only make the best us of what nature offers.
