Made with handpicked montepulciano grapes organically grown from an old vineyard along the Adriatic coast with a very low yield, this Montepulciano d’Abruzzo riserva is then aged for 16 months in new French barrels, split into two periods of 8 months each, to add the wine tons of complexity and structure.
The result is a big Montepulciano d’Abruzzo riserva, with a complex nose with fruity notes and hints of vanilla, with a full body, a smooth palate and a very long finish.
This organic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo riserva find its perfect pair with red meat or mature cheeses, this is a red wine that need to be decanted before being served.
The artisan who made it
The Jasci and Marchesani winery is currently at the third generation with Nicola, the youngest son, in charge. Located in Vasto, Abruzzo, along the Adriatic coast, the vineyards are protected by the Apennines that overlook the sea and together with the local grapes Montepulciano and Trebbiano, they grown a variety of different international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and, very interestingly, Riesling.
